Baby Products for New Parents

A lot of my friends ask me what they should get for their baby. I put together this list together with all of the items we found useful. Will keep this updated as our kids get older.

Disclosure: these are likely all of the things that a yuppie-millennial parent thinks they need for their kids. My wife and I’s parents always tell us they had none of these things and we turned out just fine :)

  1. Papablic Baby Bottle Electric Steam Sterilizer and Dryer - Save yourself hours of time with this sterilizer and dryer. Just toss the bottles in, and they’ll be cleaned and dried within an hour.
  2. Baby Brezza Electric Bottle Warmer - This thing is a huge time saver. Place a bottle in the tray, and it warms the milk to the perfect temperature. No more old-school water-warming methods.
  3. Lovevery Subscription Toy box - Montessori-inspired toys. Honestly, just made it easier to not have to think about buying toys and having these show up at your doorstep every couple months and knowing they (supposedly) help with your child’s learning
  4. Nose Frida the “snot sucker”. Cool little device to help clear your baby’s nose.
  5. Swaddles & Burp Cloths - You’ll still get spit up on, but these help a lot.
  6. Nanit Baby Monitor - Watch your kid sleep from your iPad.
  7. Hatch Baby Rest Sound Machine - white noise machine. Control everything from your iPhone.
  8. Boppy Original Nursing Pillow - comfy pillow for your baby to lay on. Don’t let them sleep on it.

  9. DockATot Deluxe + Dock - Similar to the poppy. Again, don’t let them sleep in it.

  10. Bugaboo Stroller - A high-quality stroller.

  11. Nuna Turtle Infant Car Seat- Easy to use car seat. Compatible with the stroller above.

  12. Graco Pack ‘n Play Playard - great for traveling. Got one of these at each of our parents house for whenever we travel.

  13. Dr. Brown’s bottles - here’s a wide-mouth version and a more narrow version. Our daughter preferred the latter and our son the former. So it’s hit or miss. For babies, we got the 5 oz. bottles and as they get older you have to get the one that holds more milk (8oz+)

  14. Babyganics Baby Laundry Detergent - cleanest laundry detergent I’ve found. Still feel like there’s a lot of ingredients in here I can’t pronounce. If you find something better, let me know.

  15. WaterWipes - self explanatory. Just put these on auto-order.

  16. Smart Humidifier - holds a lot of water so doesn’t need to be refilled everyday. controlled from smartphone. got a few of these for the house

  17. Fisher-Price Deluxe Kick ‘n Play Piano Gym - both our kids have loved this. They lay back and get to play.

  18. Keekaroo Peanut Changer - changer for their bedroom. Very easy to clean and comfortable for the baby

  19. WubbaNub Infant Pacifier - get a few of these.

  20. Diaper bag - highly functional

  21. Wooden Baby walker - Found this very helpful for learning how to walk

  22. Activity walker - similarly helpful in learning how to walk, and has been fun for our kids before they knew how to walk.

  23. Baby Gate - self explanatory once they start crawling/walking.

Here’s some additional things we’ve found useful since our daughter turned 2:

  1. Toddler cups - water never spills out of this cup

  2. Suction plates - When your kid is having a meltdown at dinner time, these plates stay suctioned to the table so food won’t to flying everywhere

  3. Bibs - self-explanatory.

  4. Child Safety door knob cover

That’s the list! Will keep this updated as our kids get older. Have any other products you recommend or feedback on any of the above, shoot me a DM. Would love to hear it.
